Bioidentical Hormone Optimization For Women & Men

The distance between your labs and how you feel

Perimenopause, menopause, andropause, low testosterone and PCOS rarely show up in a single number. Eterna reads your hormones as a connected system and calibrates bioidentical therapy to how you actually function — not to the edge of a reference range labeled “normal.” Care is physician-led by Dr. Renée Allen, MD, and 100% virtual across 12 licensed U.S. states.

In Plain Terms

What Is Bioidentical Hormone Optimization?

Bioidentical hormone optimization is physician-led care that uses hormones structurally identical to the ones your body already makes — estradiol, progesterone, testosterone and DHEA — to restore them to the range that is right for you, guided by your symptoms and a full biomarker panel rather than a lab’s one-size-fits-all “normal.” Optimization means calibrating to how a person feels and functions — energy, sleep, mood, libido, strength, cognition, cycle — not simply confirming a value sits somewhere inside a reference interval. It applies to women and men across perimenopause, menopause, andropause, low testosterone and PCOS, always paired with a look upstream at metabolism, thyroid, stress and nutrition.

Why “Normal Labs” Miss It

The Distance Between Your Labs And How You Feel

A reference range is built from a population average, drawn at a single moment, and read one line at a time. It can tell you whether a value is unusual. It cannot tell you whether it is right for your biology — which is why so many people are told everything looks fine while fatigue, brain fog, low drive, poor sleep and a body that no longer responds go unexplained.

“Your labs are normal” and “you feel well” are two different findings. Optimization is the work of closing the distance between them.

Reading One Value At A Time

  • A single hormone checked in isolation
  • “Within range” treated as “optimal”
  • Symptoms written off as age or stress
  • The rest of the system left unexamined
  • A range built from an average, not from you

Reading Hormones As A System

  • Sex hormones, thyroid, adrenal and metabolic markers read together
  • A target calibrated to how you function and feel
  • Insulin, cortisol, thyroid and nutrition examined — not just estradiol
  • 70+ biomarkers reviewed by a physician
  • Adjusted over time as your body changes
What Patients Notice

When Hormones Are Part Of The Story

How Eterna Approaches It

Hormones Read As A System, Not A Single Number

Chasing symptoms one at a time tends to trade one complaint for another. Eterna starts upstream — measuring broadly, reading the system as a whole, and building a protocol around your physiology.

The 70+ Biomarker Panel

  • Sex hormones, thyroid, adrenal, metabolic, inflammatory and nutritional markers — read together, not in isolation.

Physician-Led, Start To Finish

  • A board-certified physician reviews your labs, history and goals — and remains the one directing your care, not a questionnaire or a portal.

Protocols Built Around You

  • Bioidentical estradiol, progesterone, testosterone or DHEA — and non-hormonal options — chosen and dosed for your biology when clinically appropriate.

Monitoring & Adjustment

  • Care is followed with regular labs and visits, so therapy is checked against your levels and your symptoms and refined over time — never set once and forgotten.

Screening begins with the Ground Zero Screening ($247). Ongoing care is offered through concierge membership; a standalone Physician Lab Report is available.

For Women

Hormone Care Through Every Transition

Estradiol, progesterone and testosterone all shift through the perimenopausal years, menopause and beyond — and in PCOS they can move out of balance far earlier. Bioidentical therapy is used to restore what has declined, matched to your labs and how you feel.

Perimenopause & Menopause

Hot flashes, sleep loss, mood changes, brain fog and vaginal dryness are physiological, not a failure of willpower. Care draws on bioidentical estradiol and progesterone — and, for some women, low-dose testosterone — calibrated to the point where symptoms ease and levels sit where they belong for you.

Progesterone

Bioidentical progesterone is used to support sleep and mood, to steady cycles in the perimenopausal years, and — for women with a uterus using estradiol — to protect the endometrium. It is prescribed as part of a considered plan, never as an afterthought.

Testosterone For Women

Testosterone is not a men-only hormone. When indicated, low-dose or microdosed testosterone — the amount used is a small fraction of a male dose — is used chiefly for persistent low sexual desire, and is followed with monitoring to keep levels in a physiologic female range.

PCOS

PCOS is a hormonal and metabolic condition often rooted in insulin resistance. Rather than only quieting symptoms, care examines the factors — androgens, insulin, thyroid — and may combine bioidentical progesterone for cycle and endometrial support with metabolic strategies, addressing irregular cycles, skin and hair changes, and fertility goals.

For Men

Andropause & Testosterone Optimization

Men’s testosterone declines gradually with age, and the symptoms — low energy, fading drive, muscle loss, rising body fat, poor mood and sleep — are easy to attribute to “getting older.” When labs and symptoms line up, testosterone optimization is an evidence-based option, delivered with the same system-level reading and monitoring given to every Eterna patient.

Low Testosterone & Andropause

Diagnosis rests on symptoms together with confirmed low morning testosterone, not a number alone. Eterna evaluates the whole picture — total and free testosterone, related hormones, metabolic and thyroid markers — before recommending therapy, and looks for reversible contributors first.

Injectable & Microdosed Testosterone

Testosterone can be delivered by injection or other routes. Some men do best on more frequent, smaller microdoses that keep levels steady and reduce the peaks and troughs of infrequent dosing. Route and frequency are individualized; the goal is a physiologic level and how you feel, not the highest possible number.

Monitored For Safety

Testosterone therapy is followed with scheduled labs — including red-blood-cell count, PSA where appropriate, estradiol and testosterone levels — so the plan stays both effective and safe. Fertility goals are discussed before starting, because standard testosterone therapy can suppress sperm production.

More Than Testosterone

Optimization for men rarely rests on one hormone. Thyroid, cortisol, vitamin D, insulin and sleep all shape how you feel, and they are read alongside testosterone so the plan addresses the actual cause of your symptoms rather than a single lab line.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is bioidentical hormone therapy only for women?

No. Hormones change with age in both sexes. Women move through perimenopause and menopause; men experience a gradual decline in testosterone often called andropause. Eterna provides bioidentical hormone optimization to women and men, reading each person’s hormones as a system rather than treating a single lab value.

What does “optimization” mean if my labs are already normal?

A reference range describes a population average; it does not describe what is right for you. Optimization means calibrating your hormones to the level where your energy, sleep, mood, libido and body composition are at their best — guided by your symptoms alongside a full biomarker panel — rather than confirming a value sits inside a broad “normal” band.

Is bioidentical hormone therapy safe?

For many people, hormone therapy is a well-studied option, but benefits and risks depend on your age, health history, the specific hormones, the dose and the route — which is why it is prescribed only after evaluation and only when clinically appropriate. Eterna follows therapy with scheduled labs and visits so the plan stays matched to you. This page is educational; your own physician and Dr. Renée can advise on your individual situation.

How is testosterone used in women?

Testosterone is a normal female hormone, present in much smaller amounts than in men. When indicated, low-dose or microdosed testosterone is used primarily for persistent low sexual desire, dosed to keep levels within a physiologic female range and followed with monitoring. It is one part of a plan, considered alongside estradiol and progesterone.

What is the 70+ biomarker panel?

It is a comprehensive lab panel spanning sex hormones, thyroid, adrenal, metabolic, inflammatory and nutritional markers — more than seventy in total. Reading them together lets a physician see hormones as an interconnected system and see what is actually behind your symptoms, instead of drawing conclusions from one number in isolation.

Do I have to live in a particular state?

Eterna is 100% virtual and Dr. Renée is licensed in 12 U.S. states. Care — including hormone optimization — is available to residents of those states by telemedicine. If you live elsewhere, an educational second-opinion consultation may still be an option.

How is hormone therapy monitored over time?

Optimization is not set once and forgotten. Therapy is followed with scheduled lab work and physician visits so levels and symptoms are reviewed together and the plan is adjusted as your body changes — which is how care stays both effective and safe.
